Ang Mga Bol-anon (Boholano) [People in Bohol]

Boholano is a dialect that is spoken on the island of Bohol particularly an Island next to Cebu Philippines. Boholano was very famous on their native language, especially the dialects used in Central Bohol. Their language can be distinguished from other Cebuano dialects by a few phonetic changes. The "y" sound in Cebuano becomes "j" ("iya" in Cebuano becomes "ija"), the "k" sound sometimes becomes "h" ("ako" in Cebuano becomes "aho") the "l" sound sometimes if it is used in the second or following syllable becomes "w" ("kulang" in Cebuano becomes "kuwang").

Piskay gajud ang pinulungan sa mga Boholano ilabina sa mga taga Badiang Inabanga Bohol. Sa mga taga Badiang ang pong BADIANG mamahimong BAGJANG, ang pong maanindot mamahipong piskay. Ug kung mosulti ka ug tuyuka sa taga Inabangnun Tulijuka or tujuka. Hahay usahay makaingon ko nga motulijok gajud ag ahong utok sa ilang lingwahe pero mao kini ang pinulungan sa ahong mga ginikanan. Apan tungod kay ako nagadako man sa halajong dapit wala gajud ako naanad sa pag gamit sa maong mga "PONG" (language).

Boholanos are sometimes looked down by non-Boholanos in exaggerating the use of "j" in speaking the local dialect in their own intonation and accent. But for the Boholanos, the intonation and accent should not be considered a defect; it is a trademark of being the native of Bohol. Every province in every country for that matter has its own intonation and accent in speaking their own language and that the Boholanos are proud that they have their own, a symbol and identification that they are real Boholanos. So they have nothing to fear for being despised. Instead they have to be proud of it and preserve it!

People said ang Boholano...ija-ija, aho-aho. Meaning they are selfish people but they're wrong with that impression. Because Boholano are very respectful and hospitable. Kuripot pero manggitabangon. Matod nila kung ikaw maka asawa ug usa ka Boholana you're like winning a lotto. Tungod kay ija man sa usa ka Boholana ang pagka kugihan ug pagkamasinabuton. Ug matod pa mahigugmaon gajod ang mga baje sa Bohol.

Ako.... I was born in Badiang Inabanga Bohol. Dili man tuod ako hanas sa pinulongang binul-anon pero dili matukib sa pulong ang akong kalipay nga ako dunay dugong Bol-anon.
